Student Innovation Challenge 2026
The Student Innovation Challenge is an annual competition designed to give the next generation of entrepreneurs a platform to turn possibility into opportunity. College students from Winthrop University, Clinton College, and York Technical College are invited to pitch an existing business or new business idea before a panel of experienced judges, gain valuable coaching and feedback, and compete for cash prizes.
As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026: The Power of What’s Possible, the Challenge gives students an opportunity to put their ideas to the test, strengthen their entrepreneurial skills, and connect with resources that can help them continue building beyond the competition. $3,500 in cash prizes available!

Pitch Night, Thursday, November 19th @ 6pm – Time to bring your idea to the main stage! You’ll have five minutes to pitch your business idea.

Got questions about the Student Innovation Challenge? Here are some common inquiries to help you better understand how the process works.
Do I have to compete as part of a team?
No — you can absolutely compete as an individual if that’s your preference. While some students choose to work in teams to share ideas and responsibilities, it’s not required. You’re welcome to bring your idea forward on your own.
Am I required to attend all training or coaching sessions?
Not at all. We understand schedules can be busy, so you’re only required to attend at least two of the three training/coaching opportunities. Of course, the more you engage, the more feedback and support you’ll receive to strengthen your pitch.
How does the cash prize process work?
The prize breakdown is as follows:
- 1st Place: $1,500
- 2nd Place: $1,000
- 3rd Place: $500
- Audience Choice: $500
This is per pitch (individual or group)
What should I wear for Pitch Night?
Dress in whatever best represents you, your brand, or your business idea. This could mean business attire, business casual, or even branded merchandise that aligns with your concept. The most important thing is to feel comfortable and confident in how you present yourself.
